Castleknock, Dublin 15.

This couple and their adorable children wanted their home to feel warm and cosy with lots of colour and personality. They are both creative people who love music and art and it was important that their piano was included in the design, this was in fact one of the only pieces which was brought from their previous home. All remaining furniture and lighting were sourced by Interiors by Caroline and some pieces were designed specifically for the space and made bespoke.

Art forms an important part of the overall design aesthetic, but as the couple are just starting their collection we agreed that it would be a more rewarding process to take a longer term view on this particular aspect of the design so this is still a work in progress. The sculptural lighting over the island works particularly well, each piece gently moves with the slightest breeze creating interesting shadows on the walls, the pendants are handcrafted from recycled cardboard but appear elegant and robust, the light effect is very warm and ambient .
