Aileen Lee spoke with Caroline about the RTE 'Celebrity Home of the Year' win.
"Who would be your favourite designer, or style inspiration? I don’t really have a favourite designer — having said that when I travel I will always check out the latest fit-outs which are making waves in the design world. I like to experience design first hand and will make my way to the latest hotel, bar, or restaurant, etc, to take a peek, preferably with a cocktail or two. I have recently returned from a trip to Iceland where I took in an exhibition and lunch at Alvar Aalto’s Nordic House — he was an acclaimed Finnish architect, and it was hugely inspiring."
Caroline worked with famous author John Boyne when upgrading his home which has now won RTE's 'Celebrity Home of the Year'.
"Judges Hugh Wallace, Deirdre Whelan and Peter Crowley were enthralled by the author’s light-filled library on the landing in particular, his garden work room, and the unique bookends that adorn the many book shelves throughout his home."
The news is still sinking in that our client John Boyne has won RTE's 'Celebrity Home of the Year'! Congrats again John!
"Looking for individuality, functionality and clever design, the judges individually scored each of the homes out of 10. This year's winner was none other than John Boyne! The writer, whose books include The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Thief of Time, received a donation for a charity of their choice."

Tanya Sweeney spoke with Caroline about tips for preparing your home for Winter. “Get your kitchen ready for the preparation of delicious comforting winter warming dishes and drinks by putting the salad bowls and barbecue bits and bops away and dust off the casserole pots and fondue set. Rearrange your spice rack, putting warming spices to the front such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon for delicious milky chai.” Read full feature here >
Megan Burns spoke with Caroline Flannery about the interior design in her home in Clontarf. “She came across the building after searching as far as Wicklow and Meath. Although she had her heart set on a period property, this former artist’s studio struck her as the perfect blank canvas to work with.” Read full feature here >
Serena Fokschaner spoke with author John Boyne and interior designer Caroline Flannery about John's newly renovated Rathfarnham home. “Realising that he lacked “the good visual eye” needed to overhaul the interior, he enlisted the skills of interior designer Caroline Flannery. A few meetings later, Boyne cleared out his home. “I got rid of anything that didn’t make me happy. It was a cathartic process.” As the builders moved in, Boyne relocated to London to let them “go mad”. The result is a streamlined but colourful interior where many of the rooms have a new function: there is a reading room, a gym area and two work spaces.” Read full feature here >
Tanya Sweeney spoke with John and Caroline in the newly renovated Rathfarnham home. “Before, I was just like, ‘where does the sofa go? Where will the TV go?’ I’d never thought about (looking at interiors) websites before, but I got really into design and developed an aesthetic of my own. That would never have happened without Caroline.” Read full feature here >
Caroline shares her tips to stamp your style on a rental. “A well-considered rug can be a great investment particularly in a rental, where it may not be possible to modify the space without the permission of a less than enthusiastic landlord. The right rug can create instant impact, warmth, colour and style while also acting as a focal point in a room which may lack any architectural features of note.” Read full feature here >

Elizabeth Birdthistle of The Irish Times caught up with Caroline to talk about the work she completed on a 5 bedroom family home in Ballsbridge. "Flannery designed a striking wall unit – which houses the television and log gas fire – in the family room overlooking the 260sq m (2,798sq ft) rear garden. The unit was painted in a strong blue and this tone is further used in the kitchen and master bedroom. Other details such as panelling on the stairs and a built-in unit for the hallway indicate clever attention to detail throughout." Read full feature here >
